NCHSAA and NCisaa

OrthoCarolina, NCHSAA, and NCISAA are proud to partner in supporting the health and safety of high school athletes throughout North Carolina. OrthoCarolina is a leading independent academic orthopedics practice serving the Southeast since 1922, with specialized physicians in sports medicine and extensive training in musculoskeletal care. NCHSAA and NCISAA are the governing bodies for public and private high school athletics, respectively, in North Carolina. Together, we are dedicated to promoting injury prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for high school athletes. OrthoCarolina's physicians offer a wealth of expertise in diagnosing and treating athletic injuries, providing personalized care that addresses each athlete's unique needs. Additionally, OrthoCarolina provides orthopedic urgent care services, allowing athletes to receive prompt care for acute injuries without an appointment. Through this partnership, we aim to provide affordable and accessible care to high school athletes across the state, ensuring their health and well-being both on and off the field. By working together, we hope to reduce injury rates, promote healthy competition, and encourage a lifelong commitment to physical activity and wellness for all high school athletes in North Carolina.

Mission Statement

The NCISAA exists to encourage interscholastic competition among North Carolina independent schools that are committed to integrity, sportsmanship, and fair play

Core Values

  1. We believe that interaction through statewide athletic activities is a character and community-building experience.
  2. We believe that, because time and money are scarce resources, interruption of academic schedules, travel time, and expense should be minimized.
  3. We believe that athletes should respect officials and accept their decisions and that coaches should show restraint and respect when dealing with officials.
  4. We believe that financial aid in any form in return for athletic participation is wrong.
  5. We believe that the main goal of conference and classification assignments is to provide equitable competition based on variations in school enrollments.
  6. We believe that schools must provide safe and adequate facilities for participants, spectators, and officials; the best possible officials for the events; and adequate control of spectators, players, and pre/post-game activities.
  7. We believe that coaches should instill a love of the game in their players.
  8. We believe that our governing body of school Heads will fairly represent each conference in the state.
  9. We believe that schools should educate their supporters to cheer for their own teams and never denigrate the performance of their opponents or officials.
  10. We believe that schools must not tolerate a spectator, adult, or student, whose behavior is disrespectful toward players, officials, coaches, or other spectators.
  11. As a non-profit organization, the NCISAA operates with the belief that the basic integrity of each member school is the most vital part of the organization.
