OrthoCarolina is proud to welcome two new physicians to our team. Gregory Kurkis, MD, will practice at OrthoCarolina Huntersville, and Matthew Robinson, MD, will practice at our Monroe office.
Both Drs. Kurkis and Robinson are fellowship-trained hip & knee surgeons and specialize in adult hip and knee reconstruction.
ABOUT DR. Gregory KURKIS
Dr. Kurkis earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Vir. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Emory University School of Medicine and his Adult Joint Reconstruction Fellowship with Colorado Joint Replacement at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Col.
“From the initial office visit, I want my patients to know that I will always strive to be their biggest advocate and deliver excellent care so that the patient can focus on what is most important to them -- getting well. Nothing is more gratifying than hearing how a patient played with their grandchildren or finished a round of golf without pain or limitation for the first time in many years.”
Dr. Kurkis is a proud husband and father, with their second child on the way. Together with his family, he enjoys exploring North Carolina’s mountains and beaches. Dr. Kurkis also enjoys playing golf, fishing and following Washington and Lee Generals football.
ABOUT DR. Matthew ROBINSON
Dr. Robinson earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident.
He completed his Adult Joint Reconstruction Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
“I was drawn to orthopedic surgery because I enjoy spending time with patients and working with them to restore their function and alleviate their pain. There is no greater satisfaction than working with a multidisciplinary team to help a patient with a debilitating problem return to a more active life.”
Outside of the office, Dr. Robinson enjoys spending time with his wife, who grew up in the Charlotte area, and their two young sons. He also enjoys traveling, outdoor activities like running and hiking and Notre Dame football.
