Biography

Dr. Jim Fleischli has been an integral figure in the Charlotte sports medicine landscape for years, dedicated to treating his patients with excellence in surgical skills, a wealth of research knowledge, and the utmost respect and compassion.

Dr. Fleischli graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and Baylor College of Medicine, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at Atrium - Carolinas Medical Center. After completing a prestigious fellowship with Dr. James Andrews at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, he returned to Charlotte, where he was the founding director of the OrthoCarolina Sports Medicine Fellowship. Over the years, the fellowship program has risen to national prominence, training many of the next generation’s best and brightest sports medicine surgeons.

Dr. Fleischli specializes in Adolescent and Adult Sports Medicine, particularly knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage repair, and arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery. He is a frequent recipient of regional and national referrals for complex knee surgeries. He has developed novel surgical instruments and innovative techniques to improve patient outcomes for procedures including ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) reconstruction, knee collateral ligament reconstruction, Tommy John / UCL (Ulnar Collateral Ligament) reconstruction, and shoulder biceps tenodesis. He has authored nearly 100 research papers, which have helped advance the field of sports medicine.

He enjoys living in Charlotte with his wife, three teenage children, and dog Charlie. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, fly fishing, exercising, and spending time with his family. His wife, Kimmery, is an emergency medicine physician and a nationally acclaimed novelist.

    Testimonials

I would like to thank the staff and Dr. Fleischli and Nancy McLeod for such wonderful care. I was concerned about having my shoulder and bicep repaired but Dr. Fleischli and his staff were very supportive and assured me that everything would be fine. I had the best experience from beginning to end and could not be more pleased with how well everything went. OrthoCarolina is very fortunate to have such wonderful people representing them and our community. This is my second experience with Dr. Fleischli over the past 15 years and I would like to thank him for caring for me. Thanks to all of you at OrthoCarolina!
