Sports MedicineDr. Hamid specializes in treating disorders of the shoulder and elbow. He completed his fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the esteemed Shoulder and Elbow Center at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He also traveled to Nice, France, for further training in advanced arthroscopic shoulder surgery and complex shoulder reconstruction.
He has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters pertaining to topics such as rotator cuff disease, shoulder arthritis, and shoulder instability. He is a Professor with Wake Forest University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and received the Faculty of the Year Award in 2025.
He currently serves on the editorial review board for the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He is the Lead Physician at the OrthoCarolina Shoulder and Elbow Center and is the Director for Surgical Simulation for the Department of Orthopeadic Surgery. Dr. Hamid is actively involved in the prestigious American Society of Shoulders and Elbow Surgeons where he frequently presents clinical research and shares his expertise on shoulder replacement, rotator cuff and shoulder instability procedures.
He is intimately involved in the design and refinement of emerging technology used in shoulder surgery. He has been voted by his peer physicians as one of Charlotte’s Top Docs for 11 consecutive years. He has also been selected as the incoming president of the Carolinas Shoulder and Elbow Society.
