Just prior to Sunday’s Daytona 500, the 150-mile qualifying races known as the Budweiser Duel took place in Daytona. The Budweiser Duel races are notable because they determine the starting lineup for the Daytona 500, and can be considered a preview of its outcome. The top 15 cars in each Duel are guaranteed to start the Daytona 500, and this year’s winners (Matt Kenseth, Duel #1, and Denny Hamlin, Duel #2), are both with our partner Joe Gibbs Racing.

For those less familiar with NASCAR, OrthoCarolina’s Ken Breath, PT, ATC, LAT equates the Daytona 500 to “the Super Bowl of racing”. He took the photos seen here in the pit and at Victory Lane while celebrating, and says that the “hat dance”, or changing of many hats from different sponsors for photos after a win, is a fun part of the event to experience.

Ken is part of a contingent of OrthoCarolina that treats Joe Gibbs Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, Stewart Haas Racing, and also works with Penske Racing, Roush Fenway Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing. Motorsports are exhilarating and downright addictive, and our physician assistants, physical therapists and certified athletic trainers enjoy being in the middle of the action treating the drivers and their teams.
