Dr. Otero is a fellowship-trained adult hip and knee reconstruction surgeon and an internationally recognized researcher with an extensive record of peer-reviewed publications, national and international presentations, and academic leadership. His research focuses on periprosthetic joint infection, revision total joint arthroplasty, musculoskeletal infection, and clinical outcomes in complex hip and knee reconstruction. Dr. Otero has served as a principal investigator and collaborator on prospective randomized trials, registry-based studies, and multicenter research initiatives, and he currently co-directs the Hip and Knee Research Division at the OrthoCarolina Research Institute. His work has been published in leading orthopedic journals and has earned multiple best-paper and top-paper awards at national meetings.
