Biography
Dr. Jordan Grier is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon at OrthoCarolina, specializing in conditions of the hand, wrist, and elbow. He treats patients from Charlotte, Ballantyne, SouthPark, Matthews, and the surrounding Carolinas for a wide range of problems including thumb arthritis, wrist pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s contracture, hand and wrist fractures, tendon injuries, nerve compression, ligament injuries, and sports-related upper extremity injuries.
Dr. Grier has a particular clinical interest in advanced thumb arthritis care, including thumb CMC arthritis treatment, thumb joint replacement, and other motion-preserving surgical options for patients with pain at the base of the thumb. Prior to offering modern thumb joint replacement locally, Dr. Grier traveled internationally to train with leading surgeons in advanced thumb arthritis and thumb joint replacement techniques. His goal is to help patients reduce pain, improve strength, preserve motion, and return to the daily activities, work, sports, golf, and hobbies they enjoy.
He also specializes in wrist arthroscopy and minimally invasive treatment of wrist pain, TFCC tears, wrist ligament injuries, wrist instability, cartilage injuries, and sports-related wrist conditions. For patients with persistent wrist pain or loss of function, Dr. Grier focuses on identifying the underlying cause and tailoring treatment to restore comfort, motion, grip strength, and confidence with activity.
Dr. Grier completed his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at Duke University Medical Center. He completed additional subspecialty fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, brachial plexus surgery, and microsurgery at the OrthoCarolina Hand Center.
Dr. Grier is committed to a patient-centered approach to care. He partners with each patient to create an individualized treatment plan that may include nonoperative care, injections, hand therapy, minimally invasive procedures, wide-awake surgery, wrist arthroscopy, fracture care, nerve surgery, tendon reconstruction, or advanced joint reconstruction when appropriate.
Outside of work, Dr. Grier enjoys spending time with his wife and three children exploring the many wonderful parks and trails around Charlotte, playing golf, as well as attending concerts and sporting events.
