Biography

Dr. Charles A. Johnson is an orthopedic hand surgeon who specializes in the treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and upper extremity. A native of the Carolinas, he grew up just outside of Charlotte in Rock Hill, SC, and is proud to care for patients in the region he has always called home.Dr. Johnson completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and advanced fellowship training in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery at New York University (NYU). He is board-eligible with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has authored numerous research publications in top orthopedic journals.

Dr. Johnson is known for his patient-first approach, focusing on the whole person rather than just the X-ray or diagnosis. He takes time to listen, explain treatment options clearly, and tailor care to each patient’s goals and lifestyle. From straightforward injuries to complex conditions, he is committed to delivering compassionate, respectful, and expert orthopedic care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, running, playing golf, following college football, drawing, and painting.
