OrthoCarolina joined Discovery Place to celebrate the opening of the new Discovery Place Education Studio at a ceremonial ribbon cutting at Bank of America STEM Center for Career Development on May 29. The Education Studio is a professional development program serving pre K-12 educators from schools, museums, science centers, zoos and aquariums that will provide ongoing professional development in science, technology, engineering and math to educators throughout the Southeast.
“So many of our employees come from science, technology engineering and math backgrounds and have STEM-focused careers,” said Dr. Dan Murrey, CEO of OrthoCarolina. “Our hope is that our gift to support the new Discovery Place Education Studio will help inspire a new generation of students that will grow up to work not only in the medical field but in other STEM careers that are vital to our continuing prosperity.”
Focusing on a variety of offerings including content knowledge, technology training and field experiences, professional development programs and workshops, the Education Studio will combine best practices in formal and informal education and offer teachers skills and tools that can be adapted to meet the needs of their own classrooms.
