Biography

Stephen Barchick grew up in Ohio, he majored in history at Harvard College and was a four year varsity rower. After college he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. He served two deployments as an infantry officer. Upon completion of his commission, he attended medical school at Duke University. During that time, he and his wife were married in Durham, NC and lived in Chapel Hill for the remainder of their time in North Carolina.

He attended orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA where he was fortunate to care for patients at Penn Presbyterian Hospital, a level 1 trauma center which is also recognized as an orthopaedic center of excellence; Pennsylvania Hospital, the first hospital in the United States; The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia; and The Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Hospital. He completed his training with a spine surgery fellowship at Emory University and Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He trained with leaders in the field of complex spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, spine trauma, and spinal deformity.

He enjoys spending time with his family, athletics, and traveling both within the United States and abroad.
