A program will be tailored to meet your specific needs with ongoing re-evaluation to allow adjustments in your program as recovery progresses. If surgery is required, your physician will discuss the procedure with you, addressing any questions or concerns you may have.
All of our Foot & Ankle physicians see patients at the central location on Vail Avenue, and many travel out to other OrthoCarolina offices to provide treatment across the region.

The OrthoCarolina Foot & Ankle Institute offers a prestigious 12-month fellowship featuring a full range of adult foot and ankle teaching opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to, adult reconstruction, arthritis, trauma, diabetes care, dysvascular foot difficulties, sports injuries and foot and ankle rehabilitation issues. We offer the full scope of operative and non-operative approaches to adult and adolescent foot and ankle problems. Professional and amateur athletes alike see care at the prominent OrthoCarolina Foot & Ankle Institute.
The fellowship program requires independent thought and action, includes research and resident teaching opportunities, and is supported by a well-staffed Fellows’ clinic.
The fellowship originated in 1993 and over 40 physicians from around the world have trained in Charlotte. The current faculty includes Drs. Robert Anderson, Bruce Cohen, Hodges Davis, Kent Ellington, and Carroll Jones. Dr. Cohen serves as fellowship director.
Three fellowship positions are available to orthopedic surgeons who have completed an approved orthopedic residency training program. Applications will only be accepted from physicians licensed to practice medicine in the United States who participate in the San Francisco Match (SF Match). Applications must be submitted through the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS).
The pedCAT®, first in-office TRUE 3D weight bearing CT for the foot and ankle, helps optimize treatment planning for our patients. Via this low dose radiation option, the pedCAT® assesses clinical conditions including, but not limited to, fractures, dislocations, arthritic joints, deformity and for quicker diagnosis, evaluation and treatment planning.
