  • Internship, Carolinas Medical Center
  • Residency, Orthopedic Surgery, Carolinas Medical Center

In 1984, Dr. Mokris completed his residency at Carolinas Medical Center, where he studied under Dr. Richard Wrenn and the late Dr. Basil Boyd, both from Miller Orthopaedic Clinic (now OrthoCarolina). During that time, he became intrigued by adult reconstruction, particularly total hip and total knee replacements, and decided to join the former Miller Orthopaedic Clinic's growing joint replacement team.

Today at OrthoCarolina, Dr. Mokris remains at the forefront of his field in the design and development of hip and knee prostheses. He is involved in the development and utilization of minimally invasive surgery and techniques for both total hip and total knee replacements. He has been a leader in the development of new articular-bearing surfaces including oxidized zirconium, metal/metal, and ceramic articulations. He has given talks on joint replacements both nationally and internationally. For the past 15 years, he has been the chairman of an educational course in Florida on total joint replacements.

Dr. Mokris and his wife, Marylee, are the parents of four boys. He remains active in sporting events such as tennis, water skiing, scuba diving and fishing. He also serves on the board of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as the board of Camp Care, a children’s cancer organization.
