Dr. Milam is an orthopedic spine surgeon who serves patients at OrthoCarolina’s Spine Center in downtown Charlotte, as well as our Mooresville and Huntersville offices.
Dr. Milam grew up on Lake Murray near Columbia, South Carolina. He attended Furman University, where he played football for the Furman Paladins. Seeing his teammates’ injuries firsthand inspired him to choose the field of orthopedics.
During medical school, Dr. Milam was awarded the School of Medicine Award of Distinction. He developed an interest in spine surgery during his residency at the University of Pennsylvania and continues to enjoy the complexities and rewards that come with helping patients with spine problems.
Dr. Milam has a special interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, disc replacement and cervical spine surgery.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Christian Medical and Dental Society, the American College of Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.
In his spare time, Dr. Milam loves athletics, whether it is playing sports or watching them. He also enjoys biking, hiking, strength and endurance training and cooking.
