Dr. Mason is a Charlotte native and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he was named the Most Outstanding Member of the College of Medicine in his class.

After completing six years of general and orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Mason was awarded the Otto E. AuFranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Joint Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.

As a member of the Hip & Knee Center at OrthoCarolina, Dr. Mason specializes in total joint replacement surgery and disorders of the hip and knee. He especially enjoys working with senior patients and helping to make a difference in their lives.

Dr. Mason frequently lectures around the country to other orthopedic surgeons, sharing his research and clinical experience on many hip and knee related topics. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in adult reconstructive surgery and hip arthroscopy. Dr. Mason recently was recognized by the Knee Society for his talent, research and future potential, and was awarded the prestigious Insall Traveling Fellowship.

He is a member of numerous orthopedic societies and organizations, including the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Society for Arthritic Joint Surgery and the Piedmont Orthopedic Society. Currently, he is the co-chairman of the peer review committee at Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital.

Dr. Mason is married and the father of two sons. He enjoys the outdoors and is a passionate fisherman.
