ABOUT ORTHOCAROLINA
OrthoCarolina is one of the nation’s largest, most comprehensive orthopedic practices, offering dedicated specialty centers staffed by physicians who are leading experts in their fields. In addition, OrthoCarolina’s physicians serve as the official team doctors for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers as well as a number of area professional, college and high school sports teams.
Based in Charlotte, N.C., OrthoCarolina was formed by the 2005 merger of Miller Orthopaedic Clinic and Charlotte Orthopedic Specialists, both of which served the Charlotte region for more than 80 years. Today, OrthoCarolina is committed to providing easy access to outstanding care and to remaining a leader in physician education and orthopedics research.
OrthoCarolina’s staff of more than 70 physicians, physician assistants and 600 employees treats more than 120,000 patients each year, providing advanced specialty care and general orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, physical therapy, advanced imaging and orthopedic urgent care via 15 practice offices located throughout the region.

PHYSICIAN TRAINING & CERTIFICATION
OrthoCarolina’s staff is comprised of more than 70 orthopedic surgeons and physiatrists, many of whom are fellowship-trained, or have completed one additional in-depth year of specialty training in a specific area under the guidance of a top orthopedic specialist. In addition, all OrthoCarolina physicians are board certified or pending board certification in orthopedic surgery.

TEAM PHYSICIANS
OrthoCarolina doctors have been the official team physicians for the Carolina Panthers since the team’s inaugural season in 1995. Patrick M. Connor, M.D., is the Panthers’ head team physician and also serves as a member of the NFL Physicians Society’s executive committee. Robert B. Anderson, M.D., serves as the Panthers’ assistant team physician and is the chairman of the NFL’s foot and ankle committee.

RESEARCH
The OrthoCarolina Research Institute (OCRI) is a 501(c)(3) organization that promotes and fosters collaboration with universities, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, healthcare device manufacturers and other academic and research organizations. Through the OCRI, orthopedic physicians and their teams currently manage 23 FDA-regulated clinical trials, two national research grants and more than 50 scientific/outcomes studies, and annually monitor approximately 6,000 study patients.
