Dr. Matthew Gullickson of OrthoCarolina has been named the official team physician for the Charlotte Christian athletic program.
As official team physician, Dr. Gullickson will provide on-the-field medical coverage, overseeing all orthopedic and non-orthopedic medical needs, including fluid balance, dehydration issues and concussion management. Dr. Gullickson, in conjunction with the Charlotte Christian training staff, will evaluate players’ overall health and make decisions on appropriate treatment for injury situations.
“I am looking forward to working with the entire athletic community at Charlotte Christian to ensure that all student athletes are healthy and performing at their best,” said Dr. Gullickson.
Dr. Gullickson, who joined OrthoCarolina’s Matthews office in early 2007, specializes in sports medicine and general orthopedics. He graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., with a bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine studies. He received his medical degree from Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Ill., and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Loyola University Medical Center.
Dr. Gullickson is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North Carolina Medical Society, and is a licensed surgeon in both North and South Carolina.
In addition to Charlotte Christian, OrthoCarolina’s physicians serve as the official team doctors for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers as well as a number of area professional, semi-professional, collegiate and high school sports programs, including the Charlotte Eagles, Charlotte Knights, Gastonia Grizzlies, Davidson College, Gardner-Webb University, Johnson C. Smith University, Belmont Abbey College, Wingate University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Winthrop University. |
