OrthoCarolina’s Dr. Roy Majors has been named the North Carolina Sports Medicine Person of the Year by the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association (NCATA).
Dr. Majors, a sports medicine specialist in OrthoCarolina’s Randolph Road office, is the 10th recipient of the statewide award, which recognizes a sports medicine professional who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the athletic training profession and has made extraordinary contributions to sports medicine and the community.
“Dr. Majors was the perfect candidate for this award because he has dedicated a significant portion of his career to advancing, promoting and championing the efforts of our association and its members,” said Kevin Allran, NCATA member and athletic director at Charlotte Latin High School. “For the past 14 years, he has selflessly given his time and expertise, impacting my career as an athletic trainer, the lives of my athletes and the Charlotte community.”
Currently a sports medicine consultant for the National Football League, Dr. Majors is the team physician for multiple area high schools and is involved with the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
Dr. Majors received his bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and completed his medical degree and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his fellowship training at Resurgens in Atlanta.
