Biography
Jessica Nelsen, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC graduated with honors from Simmons College, Boston, MA in 2001. Because of her extensive background in dance, a highlight during graduate school was a clinical internship with the PTs working with the Boston Ballet. While working in the outpatient department of a small hospital in NH, Jessie also volunteered with Northeast Passage, a group providing recreational activities for folks of all ages with disabilities including hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail and playing sled hockey.
She has been a Certified Manual Therapist (MTC) through the University of St. Augustine since 2006 and a Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialist (OTC) since 2007. Since moving to NC in 2007, Jessie has been working to make lives better by problem-solving each client’s individual needs and goals for issues from head to toe. Her advanced training has built her skills as a spine specialist, although she loves the opportunities to stay balanced working with all different body parts.
She and her family love hiking and rock climbing together. With a passion for movement, Jessie also loves doing yoga, is working toward her aerial yoga teacher certification, and is an aerialist with Cirque Appalachia.
